Coming off psychiatric medication isn’t just a medical process; it’s a personal one. It affects your emotions, your relationships, your hope for the future, and your sense of who you are becoming. Deprescribing coaching is designed to support you through all of it, not just the taper schedule.
What does this look like?
Your coaching relationship is built around you: your unique history, pace, and goals. Sessions focus on both the practical and the emotional sides of tapering: pacing your reductions in partnership with your prescriber, building coping strategies for the mental and physical symptoms that can surface, and finding steadiness when the process feels uncertain. We help you notice patterns, celebrate progress, and stay grounded when setbacks happen, because they do, and that doesn’t mean you’ve failed.
For additional guidance on medication history, dosages, and interactions, explore our pharmacist-led medication reviews, which provide information to support discussions with your prescribing healthcare provider.
Who could benefit?
Anyone who is actively tapering, or preparing to begin, and wants a steady, compassionate presence in their corner: someone who understands both the clinical realities of deprescribing and what it feels like to live through it.
What to expect in your initial session
We start by listening. You’ll share your medication history, what’s brought you to this point, and what you’re hoping to gain from this process. From there, we build a plan together, one that respects your prescriber’s role in your care and moves at a pace that feels sustainable for you.

Withdrawal Support with MarKay
Although MarKay is a licensed trauma psychotherapist in Texas, she offers coaching, not therapy, through BFW. Coaching means walking alongside you on your journey, and it can include coping skills, nervous system regulation techniques, mindfulness, parts work, developing self-compassion, encouragement, empathy, normalizing struggle, and offering validation and support. She also facilitates support groups. Trauma therapy may not be advisable during tapering and withdrawal, when your nervous system is often dysregulated and processing trauma can destabilize further.
